Fashion is a form of self-expression, and when it comes to one's style, there is no right or wrong. However, some of the best fashion tips of all time can give your look that little extra something that you may have been looking for all along.

What girl doesn't love fashion? Okay, there are probably quite a few, but I am going to assume those girls aren't reading fashion articles like this one (although, they should be, because I am here to help). I may not be a style expert, but I am a somewhat stylish woman in my 30s who has always loved fashion and experimenting with new looks. Whether you are a runway lover or an anti-fashionista, we all have to wear clothes; and if we are going to wear clothes, then why not aim for the perfect fit, best accessories, and most complimenting pieces?

When it comes to style, there is no wrong or right, but there most certainly are smart choices. I encourage every woman to have their own look and to be able to express themselves through fashion, but I also suggest following some style advice. That's why the best fashion tips of all time are guaranteed to enhance your look no matter how you dress; whether it be boho-chic, athletic, conservative, or comfortable.

Invest in the right bra. You will look slimmer and your clothes will fit better.

Clothes fit entirely different when the wrong undergarments are worn. A button down shirt, jacket, and even a tee shirt will all fit better when you have a bra that fits your body's shape the way it should. A quick bra fitting tip is that the cups of your bra should lay between your elbows and shoulders, and it should wrap evenly around to your back. So, if the clasp of your bra is in between your shoulders, then you need a new bra, hunny. With the best bra for your bod perfect fit, it will eliminate sagging and bulging, allowing tops to lay the way they should. Trust me, I know undergarments can be pricey, but they are worth it; and when taken care of properly, can last a while. Spending time to be fitted by a professional is also a great idea.

Never be too matchy matchy!

This is such a personal pet peeve of mine, and apparently I am not alone because MANY style experts agree. Just because you have navy pants on does not mean you need navy shoes, a navy bag, and all blue accessories. Here's a little, fun fashion hack to know: If you are struggling with what to pair a color with, check out a color wheel. The colors opposite of each other compliment each other, making it easy to pair pieces up. Don't be afraid to mix patterns and textures as well. Last but not least, please, for all that is holy, do not wear an entire jewelry set together. If an earring, necklace, and bracelet are sold together, DO NOT wear them together.

Stick with what works.

While following and trying new fashion trends and style advice can be super fun and exciting, it can also be a complete disaster. I truly believe in exploring new options and bringing back previous trends, but you have to remember what works for you, your body, and your style. For example, of course I am obsessed with the crop top look that is all the rage right now, but do I have any business in a crop top right now? Um, no. Last summer, kimonos killed the summer runway; and let me tell you, so did I! I rocked a kimono every way you could, and did it well. So, one of the most important fashion tips I can give you is to be REALISTIC. Try new things, but factor in your body type, age, and your overall style. I know how well I pull off a good tee, ripped jeans, and booties. I have been wearing hoop earrings since I was 15 and have no plans of stopping. I love blazers, button downs, and maxi dresses. I know how to dress them up and dress them down, and wear them with confidence and comfort. That is why these remain to be staple pieces in my wardrobe and will continue to be until further notice.

Invest in staple pieces and scale back on "occasion" clothing.

Remember those staple pieces I just mentioned above? We all have a closet full of some sort of repetitive clothing. We're not all style experts after all. Even if you believe you have no style, trust me, you do. I didn't say it's good style, but it's style. Ha! This is why, when you can spend the money on clothing, spend it smart. Set aside most of your style budget for pieces you wear most; even if it is just leggings, get a GOOD pair of leggings. Same goes for jeans, tops, and shoes. As for "occasion" clothing, shop for what you need and no more. If you need a few dressy tops to go out in, buy them, but don't overspend on these items. You want your staple items to be of good quality, fit well, and last a long time.

Show skin selectively and appropriately.

So many of us are so quick to purchase clothing without stepping foot in a dressing room that we often have no idea if a look will work until the very last minute. However, one of the most important fashion tips of all time is to choose which part of your body you want to show off, and stick with that one part only. If the shirt you are wearing is low cut or backless, then you absolutely must cover your legs. Same goes for a short skirt or shorts. It is vital that you choose a top that covers more, allowing the bottom half of your ensemble to stand out. You can also use this fashion tip to your advantage by highlighting the parts of your body you feel most comfortable with. If it's your arms you love or cleavage, then go for a low-cut, silky camisole paired with a well-fitting pair of pants or jeans. If it's your legs you love, then try a dressy shirt with a tailored blazer. Unless you want to look like you're going to a night club; or even worse, working the corner; then don't dress like you are.

When in doubt, overdress. Don't underdress.

If you had the option to be somewhere underdressed or overdressed, what would you choose? Okay, this isn't a trick question. The answer should always be: overdressed. The reasoning is simple: By dressing too casually, you risk the chance of feeling sloppy and out of place; however, if you are overdressed, at least you look pulled together and confident.

Own not one, but TWO little black dresses.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: Every girl needs to own at least two LBDs (little black dresses). I previously wrote an article on how to change your outfit from day to night, which discussed the importance of having a LBD in your closet. Now, while many style stars would say to own one, I firmly believe in two! First, you need the option of one that is a bit more dressy, say for a last minute dinner party or work event. You can dress this up with heels, jewels, hair, and makeup. If done right, it could be worn on a date, but also to an evening wedding. Then you need a more casual option. This can be worn during the day with flats, sandals, or wedges. It can be dressed up or down with scarves, jackets, and belts. Perfect for a day out shopping or having lunch with the girls. If you purchase these two dresses, I promise you they will come in handy.

When it comes to bright colors and prints, never wear more than two at once.

There is a rule when it comes to patterns and bright colors, and that is to never wear more than two at one time. So, if your top is floral and your pants are striped, stop there immediately. Once you add in that third pattern, you immediately go from an adventurous dresser to a mismatched mess. Same goes for color. If you are wearing a green top with jeans, you can most certainly add in a yellow bag or belt to give your look just the pop it needs. However, add in anymore, and you may start to look like a circus clown.

Sunglasses, belts, and scarves are just as important.

So many women own one belt and one or two scarves and sunglasses. NO! You need more! Luckily, these are things you don't have to spend major bucks on because, let me you, my sunglasses from Target look just like Khloe Kardashian's. These accessories can be a perfect fit for any outfit, yet so many women forget. By adding a colorful scarf or belt, you can make a pair of jeans and button down an entirely new look. The best women's sunglasses under $100 work the same way as well! By adding the right pair of shades, you can change an entire outfit. It is often the little additions that turn a regular outfit into a stylish ensemble.

Buy clothes that fit you NOW!

I know how tempting it is to buy those pair of jeans that are just a tad too tight. What's the harm? You know you are going to lose the weight. I mean, you think you are at least. I hate to be a bummer, but one of the best fashion tips of all time I can give you is to ask yourself seriously: How long may this weight loss take and do you really want to spend money on something you can't wear now? Sure, you could wear them, but do you want to risk the chance of the button popping off and taking an innocent bystander's eye out? Or, even worse, you could risk having a muffin top! But NO, just no! So while it may be really sad to walk away from those jeans you love that just don't fit (yet), you're better off. Snap a pic of the label, and when you're ready, then make the purchase.
