Does A Women Really Need A Bra

Where it comes to being comfortable, it's a slippery slope from being well dressed to being a total slob

There's been a heated discussion online recently questioning whether or not women need bras. Some were in favor of a bra, saying that it gives their body form and support, others are against a bra, stating that they put comfort before beauty. This got me thinking … what if we all put comfort before beauty. What do we do in the morning?

Most of us wake up at the crack of dawn, roll out of bed and stumble to the bathroom. We shower, we brush our teeth, wash out face, comb our hair, and get dressed. Office staff dresses in a suit, retail staff may dress in a uniform, and construction personnel will dress in something warm or cool depending on the season.

What if we all told our managers 'You'll see me when I get there. It could be 8:00, it could be 9:00, it could be 10:00 o'clock. Feel free to start without me.'

What if we no longer showered, brushed our teeth, washed our faces, and combed our hair? What if it was all too much of a bother? Would we all, sooner or later, look like cavemen and women?

Imagine if we all thought 'to hell with beauty, let's go for comfort'. What if all women really went braless, what a sight that would be. While young girls or those with a size A cup could probably get away with it, B, C, D, and DD would definitely cause a stir. Boobs would be swinging and bouncing in all directions, probably attracting quite a bit of attention.

Ladies who previously acidly stated 'My eyes are up here', 'Did you have a good look?' or 'It's not polite to stare', would have to keep their mouth firmly shut. After all, if they don't want people to stare, why put it out there?

And if pedestrians ran into trouble, distracted by so much flesh wobbling around, imagine the car accidents …

And if the ladies did away with their bras, why not their panties too. Some men already prefer to go commando, so why not women too. For women wearing slacks, jeans or long skirts this wouldn't be too much of a problem, but imagine those who prefer short flaring skirts … one gush of wind and there could be a pile-up on the road.

And if we're going to get rid of our bras and panties, why not our shoes as well. Shoes, especially pumps, stilettos, and high heeled sandals aren't particularly comfortable either. So shall we all go to work in our slippers or socket feet?

As for outer clothing, some of it is comfortable, others are a nuisance. So, instead of wearing a suit, a uniform or safety gear, what if we all showed up for work in our PJ's? Those are comfortable, right?

The fact is, bras aren't particularly comfortable, but they are necessary for support and a polished image. If your bra is that uncomfortable that you wish it to hell and back, chances are you're wearing an ill-fitting bra.

Try a sports bra instead. You don't have to be active in sports to wear a sports bra. Sure they're not as pretty or sexy as Victoria Secret or La Perla creations, but they are more pleasant to wear. More so, once you're tried a sports bra, chances are you'll never go back to a regular bra.

While plenty of women prefer to go braless at home, they wouldn't dream of doing so when going out in public. Those who do are the first ones to make snipe remarks at men when they get some unwanted attention.

I guess some type of women will want to go braless. I can't imagine it will be the self-respecting women with a strong sense of fashion or women who want to appear well dressed. Women who respect themselves are not necessarily fashioned dolls, but they look after themselves and want to present themselves as best as possible to others.

Where it comes to being comfortable, it's a slippery slope from being well dressed to being a total slob.
