"I've checked everything, but there's nothing to wear, I swear!"

Sounds familiar? I’m sure nearly everyone has been in a situation where it looks like there’s nothing that can be worn from their collection, despite having a closet filled with clothes. And boy, I know it sucks to be confused as to what to wear, especially ‘cos there are usually a dozen options staring you right in the eye.

Well, the confusion ends today. By the time you’re done reading this piece, I’m sure you’d no longer be in a fix as to what to wear when you seemingly have nothing else to throw on. Let’s get right into it.

Pair a T-Shirt with a pencil skirt

If you're looking for an item of clothing that can be worn both to work and on a night out, a high-waisted pencil skirt is your best bet. If you want a more contemporary style, consider wearing it with a T-shirt -- either one that is fitting and opaque in a solid color for the office or one that is fun, printed, and loose for a night out.

Borrow something from a guy

A brief trip to a boy's closet might sometimes be all it takes to reinvigorate your wardrobe when you've run out of ideas. When it comes to the essentials, men are always a fine source of inspiration.

Among my favorite things to take from my guy are his enormous, long cardigans. It's easy to pull off a sophisticated look with a simple top, some pants, and a few accessories. Wearing one of his large V-neck sweaters with skinnies and ballerina flats is also a favorite of mine. Cuffed boyfriend jeans are an option if you're feeling brave. Stealing clothes from males opens up a world of new wardrobe choices, so if you have access to one, I highly encourage it.

LBD your way out of the rut

The classic Little Black Dress. It doesn’t actually have to be all-black, but it's always nice to always have a little black dress at hand. Just choose a dress that accentuates the part of your body that you're most proud of—be it your bust, your waist, your legs, or your shoulders—while still leaving the rest of your body a mystery. Try spicing up your wardrobe with a few bright metallic items.

Switch up your old clothes

Wearing your normal outfits in fresh, unexpected ways is a terrific way to spice up a stale wardrobe. With a roomy top and jacket, that black tube top would look great over tights. That really short minidress could be worn over slim jeans as a tunic. Invest in clothes that can be worn in several ways to avoid future nothing-to-wear days. With clothes like these, you get 10 items for the price of one, which is fantastic for individuals who are on a tighter budget.

Make your outfits work

If you're used to experimenting with fashion and don't mind taking risks, this method is for you! To pull something at random, you need to either close your eyes or turn your back to your closet. Even if it's only a piece of clothing, your challenge is to find an outfit for it! There are a lot of possibilities here, as well as items you may not have known were in your possession.

Start small

Starting with a single outfit may often help everything fall into place. Begin with a minor decision, such as whether to wear a skirt or pants on a certain day. Once you've done that, you can focus on the jeans in your closet rather than having to look at everything. Again, limiting your options might make it easier to put together a look.

Tidy your closet

Being able to see everything you own in one place might free up some mental energy, which can then be channeled into creative style ideas. You may find it difficult to come up with an outfit when gazing at a heap of garments. The fact that you're unable to fit everything into your closet is usually a clue that you need to go through your belongings and see if there are any items that you don't truly need.
