Our creators are the ones who inspire us to provide a platform that rewards creativity and coming together over shared passions. Mark Wesley Pritchard has been part of our community for over a year and has since helped us foster this idea of coming together through his powerful stories. From interviews with some incredible cosplayers to raising awareness on human rights, he continues to inspire us here at Vocal. We got to sit down with Mark and learn a bit more about him in this Creator Spotlight.
We’ve been exceedingly lucky over the past three years to have fostered a platform built on the values of rewarding creativity and coming together over shared passions. You, as creators and as our partners, have made this possible with your support and your sense of community, and we expect to continue helping you share your stories with the world for a long time to come.
Are you a creator? Of course you are; I assume that's why you're reading this. If you're not a creator, then become one, because it's super fun. But the point is if you're reading this, you saw the title of this story, and you decided that you want to make a truckload of money by writing for Vocal.
We've quickly become huge fans of Sierra Vandervort. Her energy and positivity shine through all of her stories, inspiring us and other creators to live a more mindful life. From lunar studies and meditation to stories about the best ways to uncover a city's true charm—she's given us plenty of stories to choose from when it comes to picking a favorite. Sierra has also already impressed our Challenge judges for Locals Only, scoring second place with her story, "A Local’s Walk Through New Orleans’ Hippest Neighborhood." We were thrilled to learn a bit more about her! Enjoy her Creator Spotlight below.
Have you ever scrolled through Instagram to see that Vocal shared another creator’s story? Or maybe you were reading our Staff Picks or Vocal Verified roundups, and you wondered to yourself, “How do I get my story featured?” Every creator has been there—after all, isn’t that what we all want? To be recognized for what we create and have more people see our work?
One of the more commonly asked questions by Vocal creators is how to use social media to increase your readership, and to drive up your overall reads per day. And while there's a lot of very general advice out there that talks about making your titles pop, or how you need to get images that make people stop scrolling, that isn't very actionable.
Fatima has been a constant source of inspiration for the Vocal community. Her poems have given us an inside look into who she is, what she stands for, and the positive energy she radiates. Being vulnerable and opening up isn’t always easy, but she’s taught us how powerful it can be, and how one can truly find strength in their words. We’re excited to see her continue to explore storytelling through her poems and beyond. We got to chat with Fatima to talk about her journey as a creator, and what she’s looking to work on next!
You’ve just submitted a story you’ve been working tirelessly on for the past week. Every word, image, and concept is polished to perfection and you know that it’s going to be your key to success.
Neal has been part of our community for a while now. His love for storytelling goes way back—from newspapers and magazines, to short stories, novels, and tabletop roleplaying games, he’s done a little bit of everything a time or two. Since joining Vocal, his stories have captivated many, but especially those in our Gamers and Geeks communities. Neal is what we could say an RPG extraordinaire, and has shared this, and many other insights, through his stories on Vocal time and time again. We had the opportunity to learn more about him and his passions and are excited to share this with you.
Today we’re excited to introduce Challenges, a new way for creators to get inspired and join the rest of the Vocal community in some friendly competition. Starting this week, creators will be able to participate in various Challenges across a range of topics and interests for the chance to win cash prizes, experiences, and much more.
There’s no one right way to tell a story. Inspiration comes in all shapes and sizes, and we want to see what yours looks like. Challenges are meant to inspire this creativity, and we want to see you tell a story that’s unique and authentic to you—but there are just a few things we look for across the board to be sure we’re judging every entry consistently and fairly.
How do I submit a new entry to a Challenge? You can submit an entry to a Challenge right from the Challenge page. Just click the “Create a story” button—then, when you’re ready to submit your entry for review, just choose the Challenge you’d like to enter from the drop down Challenge menu, and complete the submission.
