Vocal Has Joined Stripe’s Climate Initiative

At Vocal, we’re all about supporting initiatives that make a difference. We do our best to use the platform we have to speak up for change, and to put our money where our mouth is; we support causes we believe in, we incorporate donations into as many Challenge prizes we can, and now we’re excited to announce our most recent effort: Joining Stripe Climate, which allows us to automatically donate a portion of our revenues to efforts to helping the environment.

What is Stripe Climate?

On checkout pages and receipts you receive from Vocal, you may notice a line that reads: “Vocal will contribute a portion of your purchase to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.” This means that each month, a portion of Vocal’s monthly revenue will be automatically deducted and redirected to Stripe’s growing portfolio of carbon removal technologies, including CarbonCure, Climeworks, and Charm Industrial.

Here’s what Stripe had to say about early adopters of the Climate initiative:

Early purchasers can help new carbon removal technologies get down the cost curve and up the volume curve...If a broad coalition of like-minded buyers commits substantial investment, we’re optimistic that we can shift the trajectory of the industry and increase the likelihood the world has the portfolio of solutions needed.

We’re proud to work with partners like Stripe who share our commitment to making the world a better place, and we’re thrilled that our creators get to be a part of that.

What changes?

You should be aware that if you’re sending a tip to a creator on Vocal, this contribution is not taken out of their earnings. The contribution is taken out of Vocal’s own revenue monthly, meaning that revenues from membership fees and transaction fees will be included in the initiative, but creators will still receive the exact same tip amount.

For you, as a creator, nothing will change—aside from knowing that your purchases or fees on Vocal will be put to good use for the planet.
