As obvious as it may sound, the best way of avoiding alcohol addiction is to drink in moderation or not drink at all. It is vital to educate young people about the consequences alcohol abuse can have on them. What is the most common answer you heard when you ask a young person what they are doing Friday night? Exactly.
So let's take a moment to talk about alcohol. Being smashed. Getting wellied. And what a more appropriate time to do it than when I'm still intoxicated at 8:07 AM, from the night before.
For the past six years of my life, I had a serious problem. Like many people my age, I was a functional alcoholic. I would drink anywhere from three to six beverages a day, and on the weekends? It wasn't unusual to see me guzzle bottles of wine down like it was water.
Many Americans have heard of the Japanese drink sake (though there will be things you probably didn't know about sake as well), but more likely than not, they'll ask the question: “What is baijiu?” The Chinese national drink is not well-known in the United States. In China, however, people drink baijiu frequently—the same way we drink beer, wine, and liquor. There are many facts about baijiu that Americans would not know unless they took the time to learn them, so becoming knowledgeable on baijiu, the many aspects of its production, aroma types, and aroma categories, as well as its fermentation and distilling processes can be especially helpful. It's always good to know more about other cultures and their social habits, whether you ever plan to travel to China one day or not.
They say if you dig deep enough into any family tree, you will find one, no matter how hard the family has tried to hide their family shame. The "one" I am talking about is the family "alcoholic."
Here I am again. Sitting up and unable to fully relax. To sleep, that would be peace. I don't think I have slept fully in months. My husband is in the thick of his addiction. It feels worse than ever. Every day is the same. He works, drinks, then passes out. (Vomit optional) He must get his fix on the way home. I am pretty sure he drinks in his car before coming in.
I let my son Jarret have alcohol if he's supervised by me. I figure if he's already drinking, then he might as well do so in a safe space. And he may very well be drinking given that he's in the 9th grade and very secretive about his life. He's usually pretty tight-lipped even if he's had the one drink I allow him to have, whereas I gab about my love life and the classes I've been taking at the local community college. Maybe, though, if I throw some fun into the mix he'll open up more, which is why I'm turning to the best drinking games for two people.
Hard seltzer is the newest, trendiest thing on the market. Its popularity comes from the fact that it's an alcoholic beverage that gets you buzzed, has low carb counts, and still manages to taste crisp and refreshing. (Basically, it's a lot like LaCroix in that sense.)
