Will Ukraine Win Again?

Is It Fair For Ukraine To Keep Winning Just Because They Are War?

UK Eurovision Entry: Mae Muller.

The Eurovision Song Contest this year is coming from Liverpool, England. Seeing as Ukraine won last time the contest should have been held in Kyiv. However, because of the ongoing conflict with Vlad the Invader, the contest cannot be held in Ukraine.

UK Entry Sam Ryder would have won. However, because Ukraine is at war they were allowed to win. Sam Ryder came second (something of a miracle for the UK) as the UK usually scores very low. It seems Mr. Ryder didn't seem to mind letting the Ukrainian act win. And that's noble of Sam, a man who believes in God but accepts the reality that humans are not alone in the cosmos.

However, should Ukraine just because they are fighting Russia be allowed to win again? As Piers Morgan commented "Is it right just because Ukraine is at war to let them win the contest again"? In case anyone would accuse Piers of sour grapes (because Sam Ryder didn't win) Morgan clarified his statement he went on he wanted "Ukraine to beat Russia in the war". To let Ukraine win last time was understandable but now is it time to let Ukraine win on their own as every country must do.

Votes come in from different European countries to decide the best song. Once one country has more votes than another that country is crowned Eurovision champions. The next Eurovision Song Contest is held in the capital of the winning country next time. As the contest this time could not be held in Ukraine (because of the war), the UK stepped in on behalf of Ukraine and the contest will take place in Liverpool.

Sam Ryder's tune was a tribute to David Bowie as his song emulated Bowie's hit 'Space Oddity'. Ryder's song to be fair was very good. This year we are being represented by Mae Muller. Her song is a catchy dance tune called "I Wrote A Song". Her song refers to a break-up she had and instead of saying or doing something bad to the male who jilted her, she wrote a song!

Nations like the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, etc, are automatically allowed to be in the contest. As they pay for the contest which allows it to take place. Germany's entry is a rock track called 'Blood and Glitter'. The band are called 'Lord of The Lost' and their frontman doesn't hold back in how he dresses or what he sings about. There are also other rock acts in the mix as well as all kinds of music and bizarre entertainment. Some might describe this year's contest as a freak show. The acts this year are most definitely out there but musically there's something there for every taste.

Eurovision is taken to mean by many as artists and their songs coming from Europe. However, two countries that are not in Europe technically are Israel and Australia. Surely this is geographically in contradiction to the title of the show 'Eurovision'. Israel is in the Middle East located on the Asian continent. So technically speaking geographically the Israelis should not be in the contest. Likewise, Australia is located on the other side of the world and though an island Australia is also a continent on its own.

Most Australians and Israelis are of European descent but does that qualify them to be in a contest their ancestors came from? Both nations are located in other parts of the world so why can they not take part in song contests in their part of the world? Unless of course they are not wanted or no such contest like Eurovision exists in their part of the world.

Nevertheless, the song contest though Europe based is going global. Two semi-final contests coming from Liverpool were broadcast globally. So the entire planet could behold the different acts who sang, played and entertained us.

It was sad to see Ireland's act not get through to the final. They were a fine rock band and their song spoke of being as one. If you listen to the song it seems very apt for Ukraine and what that nation is suffering but alas it was not to be.

The LGBTQ community seems to have taken over the contest. It seems the contest is being used to project their agenda and worldview. Surely it could be argued as with Football and other sports politics, etc, these things should be kept out of entertainment shows. It seems the contest is being used by the above community as a stage (literally) to promote their ideology. Then again so is the symbolism of letting Ukraine win and the colours representing their flag. So whether you think the Eurovision Song Contest should just be (as it used to be) a song contest or a stage to promote views is a matter for the individual, groups, etc.

So whether you
