Take my Hand

a daughter's cry

By Savannah K. WilsonPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read
my dad is not here, cannot hold my hand, but he's always with me

Daddy, take my hand, tell me it will be okay

Facing true love's pain for the very first time

And don't know what to do, take my hand

You aren't here to hold me as I fall apart

Cannot wipe away the never ceasing tears

I need you now, maybe more than ever

Your calm voice to guide me in this storm

A reassuring hold of my hand to settle me

Wrapping me in your arms until all feels right

I miss you so much, more so every day

But perhaps no more than on these darker days

Days filled with soundless screams of anguish

Hours spent curled on bed weeping and shaking

I need you to tell me it will be alright

I need you to wipe away my tears

I need you to be my strength in this time

I need you, my daddy ... I need you now

To take my hand ...
