Rose in Hand ...

A First Date Triptych: Part One

By Savannah K. WilsonPublished 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read
the day finally came ... and I got my words back

Breathe ...

'Just breathe,' said my bestie just minutes before

But now I'm standing in front of your door

All air has left my lungs, my mouth is dry

I want to knock ... want to see you with my eyes

But I can barely even breathe, or stand

Clutching the rose in my hands tight

Gentle, to not to snap it's petals of Lego

A single Lego rose ... my surprise for you

How many minutes passed before I knocked?

Don't recall even tapping on your door

But I did it ... I did it ... too late to run now

Not in these heels!

...

Oh my god ...

There she is ... she's ...

Gorgeouscuteadorablestunning - all in one

She's nervous ... I'm nervous, it's funny in a way

I enter, nervous energy buzzing in the room

Shaking, I hand her the single Lego rose

Wide smile of appreciation, with a glint more

She points, there I see ... waiting for me

Both were nervous, both worried

About looks, about what to do and say

But already the feeling of connection

The clicking of personality and thoughts

There waiting ... from her to me, just as mine was to her

Another Lego rose ... one for me
