It has been (falsely) assumed that gay men are feeble weaklings who can’t hold their own when it comes to throwing hands. Some people automatically assume that just because a male is a power bottom that he can’t be strong enough in a fight. No truth can be found in this scenario.

Gay men of color, especially, will be zesty and effeminate one moment and aggressive the next. At the club in Orlando, Florida, when the glass shattered and elbows got thrown, these same homosexuals got busy. The common misconception persists because of the way that most gay men are portrayed, most often in hip hop.

But before the current era of homo thugs and bussy boys, Banjee Boys took over the scene in the underground ball culture. They displayed a bravado and sense of daring all the while being either open or closeted, strong men in body and mind.

The fight scenes at the club further illustrate that gay men aren’t just going to punked and pushed down in this world. There’s enough space for them to flourish, too.

The shout, “run, bitch! Run!” has long been a standard spouted by gay black men. In the videos, a male is essentially run off the block after engaging in the melee. Such a common phrase is used to disparage and warn at the same time. These men display extreme prowess over their values like anyone.

It’s not enough to just be an ally for them. People ought to remember that we’re all human. We all have the potential for greatness in whatever endeavor, no matter the sexual preference. Images from the Orlando club brawl paint a different picture of how gay men are regarded in this country and the world.

Gay men fight over the same ideals that sttaight people fight over: dignity, honor, respect. The universality of wanting to defend oneself is only relegated to those with self-esteem. Even if an individual loses in a fight, it is the matter of how that person stood on their square and applied principles to a conflict.

With the shadow of the Orlando nightclub shooting in 2016 still looming, these actions may be a signal to the world that gsy nightclubs can get down and handle their business with hands and not guns. What happened in the videos shows how if pushed, the way that most people act out is in starting physical force.

Only the one who retaliates is the honorable component. The person who started the fisticuffs made it seem as if he was on the right when the opposite is true. Gay or not, a man is a man and that testosterone, when tested, will most certainly cause a surge in power over the aggressor.

With this document available on the Web, people are just now seeing the way that tough gay men comport themselves when faced with a foe. There is a great deal of profundity to be gleaned from these short clips. The idea that gay men can do battle with one another defeats stereotypes of their alleged weakness. Instead, these men stood up and caused a ruckus that the whole world can now view.

When we finally come to realize that the LGBTQ+ community is to be acknowledged across all facets of society and that gay men in particular have the power to steer their lives in whatever direction they wish. The moral fortitude that is shown by the men defending themselves is commendable and the men who initiated the fight ought to be prosecuted.

Given the laws of the land, it is proper for police to parse through the scenes of the videos and pinpoint who is responsible for throwing the first blow. With such information, the black gay male community may have some semblance of peace.
