Trans Rights

LA Times article

I woke up this morning to the headline of an article written by the LA Times and a few things came to mind… The first being how politically divided this country is on a scale like never before, adult bullies in places of authority, and how amazing this Father is to make such sacrifices for his child. This is how racism, segregation, prejudice, HATE is learned and accepted by a society. Despite your personal homophobia, this is just plan DUMB!

Having to move state, as the article indicates, many families living in conservative, Republican, red states are moving to blue states. I live in California and this article was written in California. Living in California is no walk in the park when it comes to your wallet, not to mention the uptick in crime over the past year and a half… Having to move and upend your life, as this Father did… He left a relationship and two older children. He flies back and forth and thankfully was able to keep his job. If he stayed, he would not be able to support his child’s transition for fear of being “reported” and facing criminal charges. What an incredibly DUMB law.

Now sure I’ve seen the conversations of trans athletics at an unfair advantage and what’s the argument? Some ciswomen are stronger than cismen, it’s called training. That’s besides the point, I didn’t spend enough energy on those complaining that said athletic is at an unfair advantage because of being trans, sounded like a loaded excuse for being a sore loser to me. When did people become dehumanized because of their gender?

I just caught up with season 2 of the Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu… These sort of communities if you may, that rule by martial law are becoming our reality. In the land of the free, more and more of its citizens want to take away that freedom from persons who do not look like them or share in their own values and that my friends is what I call, FREEDUMB.

It’s hard to keep away from all the reasons why America seems to be more and more divided these days. When things start interfering with your day to day life, is usually when you seek professional help, which many are not… Some of my acquaintances are convinced that world war 3 is imminent… Not sure where they’re getting their information, probably on Fox News. I don’t care much for fear based narratives nor intimidation, which seem to be the order of the day. I do, however, care very deeply for the mental state of a lot of my acquaintances and family members who are feeding their paranoia… Don’t loose touch with yourself. What are your core beliefs and why are they waning? Are you being influenced to feel hatred towards your fellow human beings for daring to be true to who they are? Do a bit of self-reflection because honestly, why do these political bullies care to the extent of crimininalizing something as personal as transgender children? Do they think that everyone should wait till they are in their 60’s like Bruce Jenner did to finally transition into the woman she always knew she was? I mean what’s the psychological reasoning behind hate, prejudice, racists, homophobic, misogynistic people anyway? Can they be “helped” or readjusted?

We know they can if they want to. Hate is learned. There was a former confederate, KKK leader who left the ideals of his family who were generations thick into white pride and white supremacy ideals. I remember listening to his interview. What do you know? It all boils down to a choice. Are Republicans going to start hunting transgender people? It seems like it, not even social transition is allowed to be supported by parents for their children! The closest relationship type, parental, is under attack by Republicans. I thought they were for the “nuclear family,” but it seems like they would rather rip families apart, for what? For more information, please read the article.

Being yourself in the “land of the free,” is under attack; make no mistake about it. The face of America has changed and it’s very sad to say that the people not on board with the changes have too much power. I’m not a trans woman but I know that being transgender is not a choice, like hate is. It goes far beyond the ability to change your outsides to match your insides. It’s a life that is being denied because of hate and prejudices and that is why I had to write this article. I’m pansexual and I’m for trans rights.
