Top 5 THC Strains For Inflammation
The Green Cure
Well 2020 was an interesting year to say the least. For years I’ve battled with intestinal inflammation as well as arthritis in my knee. Medication worked occasionally but the older I get the less I wanted to put medication in my body that could potentially make my organs crap out on me in the future. Luckily for me though medical marijuana was an option. At my local dispensary they had a plethora of strains available for inflammation. Each strain I smoked for the total of a month to compare.
If you’re anything like myself then you’ve had instances where you’ve smoked THC and had your pain elevated. The following strains were smoked in grams. I should note these strains all contain over 1% THC so there will be no inclusion of solely CBD strains such as AC/DC or Charlottes Web. Here are the top strains that may help with intestinal inflammation.
#1 Cannatonic
A cross between G13 Haze and MK Ultra, Cannatonic can reach up to 15% in THC content and high CBD levels up to 12%. Being 50% indica and 50% sativa, the Cannatonic hybrid strain gives you a subtle high with a satisfying body high making it good for any time of the day. Aside from helping aid in intestinal inflammation, Cannatonic is known to help with a variety of medical conditions. If you’re suffering from any form of inflammation such as arthritis or Chron’s Disease, Cannatonic is the strain that you should indulge in.
Effects: Relaxed
Terpenes: Myrcene, Limonene, Caryophyllene
#2 Harlequin
A strain very identical to the Canntonic. This sativa dominant strain is a cross between Colombian Gold, Nepali Indica, Thai and Swiss Landrace strains. Compared to Cannatonic, Harlequin gives more of a head high giving the feeling of invigoration and concentration. The 5% THC it contains isn’t harsh on the head high but the CBD aspect helps immensely with any body inflammation. The strain itself can reach up to 15% THC and CBD levels as high as 10%. While the strain isn’t ideal before bedtime, Harlequin makes sure you can effectively go about your day efficiently and productively.
Effects: Relaxed, Attentive, Happy, Euphoric
Terpenes: Alpha-Pinene, Myrcene, Limonene
#3 Blue Dream
A very popular strain in the MMJ community. Crossing genetics with Blueberry and Haze, this sativa dominant strain reaches a whopping 18% of THC. The CBD percentage falls below 1% so if you’re looking to include CBD into your daily routine this might not be the strain for you. The energizing effect is an added bonus if you need a little kick to help you function better throughout the day. In addition to helping your body relax, Blue Dream is bound to put a smile on your face in any scenario.
Effects: Happiness, Concentration, Euphoric
Terpenes: Myrcene, Pinene, Caryophyllene
#4 Girl Scout Cookies
Even though GSC falls at number 4 on the list it remains my personal favorite strain. At 19%- 22% THC, GSC has the highest percentage of THC on this list. If you’re a beginner with THC I wouldn’t advise going at this strain full speed. Low in CBD content, GSC manages to make you feel bubbly all over. This Indica dominant hybrid is a cross between OG Kush and Durban Poison. In addition to the benefit of taming body pain caused by inflammation, GSC also has the bonus of helping with appetite as well and libido. If you’re new to THC be careful of your intake as it is a heavy THC strain. Build up your tolerance and then enjoy the ride.
Effects: Aroused, Relaxed, Hungry
Terpenes: Myrcene, Limonene, Caryophyllene
#5 Green Crack
The name speaks for itself. This sativa dominant strain will take your concentration from a 1 to a 100. Reaching up to 20% THC and under 1% of CBD, Green Crack is a strain you do not want to take at night. Its energizing effects and body calming effects makes this a perfect strain for a wake n bake. If you find yourself needing an extra kick to help with pain and make it through the day then this is the strain for you. A bonus to this is that Green Crack can really help with your love life if you see yourself needing an extra boost.
Effects: Focused, Energized, Aroused
Terpenes: Myrcene, Alpha-pinene, Beta-caryophyllene
NOTE: There is a strain known as Quin N’ Tonic which is a cross between #1 Cannatonic and #2 Harlequin. I personally have not had the opportunity to try it but can only imagine it being worth the shot.
