The most popular topic since prohibition.
Please note: this is a repost from my Medium page. In 2012, Colorado residents voted to legalize marijuana in a ground-breaking political victory. I was twenty at the time, and even though I was an adamant control freak and had never smoked cannabis myself, I knew enough about it to believe that people deserved a choice. When it was officially legal, I gave it a try and was surprised by the experience, but not as surprised as I was to meet an army of corporate 'stoners' a few years later who changed the way I looked at pot forever.
When I was five or six, I discovered art and painting. I had loved music since I could remember. They both became hobbies that developed during my childhood and teen years. In college when I was about seventeen I started smoking weed regularly when I was chilling with friends or alone when I was working on a project. I am and was a high-strung person so smoking really chills me out and helps me focus.
Kevin, a 43-year-old substitute teacher from Page, Arizona, had no idea what he was getting into when he gulped down another sip of a disgusting drink made from the psychedelic cactus peyote, native to parts of Texas and Mexico. The liquid slugged down his throat as he took in his surroundings, a solitary spot under a canopy protecting him from the daylight’s harsh Arizona sun, a fireplace that would be crackling as soon as night fell, cozy spots to lay down and collect his thoughts, and a sleeping bag, completely surrounded by the isolated desert. As the substance began influencing his consciousness, he was awestruck by subtle hallucinations dancing across the desert scene.
It amazes me how taboo smoking marijuana is when it comes to being a mother. We accept that moms drink wine or let loose with harder liquor yet, smoking weed is not mother material. Excuse me, I did not know passing out drunk and having your children watch you fall, and stubble drunk is way more acceptable behavior. I don't judge; we pick different paths. I want to point out that both have an equal stigma that you can attach to it.
As American states legalized marijuana in the past decade, they have created a jumble of small-scale economies. These economies are subject to state law and are walled off by firewalls; No gram can legally cross the state line. So it is not surprising that even when markets are side-by-side, they are very different.

Being named to the prestigious Inc. 5000 list is an exciting and potentially game-changing milestone for any company to achieve. Sometimes companies have the additional honor of not only putting themselves on investor and consumer radars but the new and budding industries they represent.
The history of hemp, also known as cannabis, can be traced as far back as 8,000 B.C. Hemp was used for ropes, various textiles, and medicine. Hemp was extremely popular, until the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 was enforced. The criminalization of hemp resulted in higher crime rates, limitation of medicine, and a decline in the economy. The industrial crop has been a controversial topic ever since it has been outlawed. With the legalization of hemp in several states, people are protesting for widespread legalization of the plant. When given the power, hemp has many achievements. Hemp has been known for providing sustainability, its durable fibers, and its involvement within the movement of waste regulation.
Hemp is a pop culture icon and industrial staple whose reputation has been muddied by years of government rejection, misunderstanding, and social stigma. I aim to answer the following question: “What is hemp and how is it important to the economy and the environment?” I will also expand on how the plant gets a bad rap, why it does, and what has been done concerning its legalization when it comes to its mass growth. Despite lacking the legal capabilities, hemp, or cannabis sativa, can and should have a bigger role in the economy which will not only help our wallets but also our environment.

My name is Rob, or Ak_Word (pronounced awkward), and I'm your average customer. After years of working in customer service, I started enjoying interacting with a company from the consumer point of view. Whether I’m ordering clothes online, going to see a movie (Mondays are the best days in my opinion), or picking up a mobile order from Starbucks, when I’m spending money, I want it to be an enjoyable experience. I’m a broke boy at heart so parting with my money is hard, To quote the great philosopher, YK Osiris, “You just gotta be worth it.”
