History of Sherlock Holmes' Pipe

There is much wisdom in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's words often believed to be a direct result of what was in his Sherlock Holmes' pipe.

Neither kith nor kin will turn down a bowl when you flash a classy, well curved glass "Sherlock" pipe coupled with some fine medical greenery. Most of America is controlled by money and pharmaceuticals, and fails to notice the obvious, smoking marijuana is for the introspective, the thoughtful, and for those who are searching for answers to the mystery of life. So why not smoke like the most famous detective, real or imagined, in history? Though Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle's books portrayed his literary Sherlock Holmes puffing tobacco out of various pipe styles, his legendary character is usually portrayed smoking what is referred to as a calabash pipe. There is much wisdom in Doyle's words often believed to be a direct result of what was in his pipe.

The calabash pipe received its name from the gourds that create the famous shape and became popular in Britain, post-Boer war. Used for theatrical Sherlock performances, so audiences could easily recognize a pipe in the actor's hand, calabashes used to be made with meerschaum, a soft white mineral. But as visuals replace imagination and traditions become reality, any downward curve to an upward bowl pipe, made of any substance, glass for our purposes, is referred to as a "Sherlock pipe." Though not ideal for discreet smokers, a clean, sharp Sherlock piece will help a party of mystery seekers and wizened explorers get to the bottom of any felonious quandaries. A missing diamond or other rare gem. Hunting elusive, nibbling rodents around your house with a dog named Watson. Wondering why our country is continuing to fund a failing drug war. These are only a few of the elementary mysteries that can be solved, or pondered over, by a Sherlock Holmes session with a piece of hash resting atop a bed of Blueberry bud. Whether you're approaching loftiness in your horse-drawn hansom or your hatchback Honda, a Sherlock Pipe is a classically styled look for all your toking needs.

"My name is Sherlock Holmes. It is my business to know what other people don’t know."

What they didn't know was what was packing Sherlock's pipe.

“What you do in this world is a matter of no consequence. The question is what can you make people believe you have done.”

The more weed they smoke, the more they believe.

"You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear."

Without the hidden stash inside the pipe, observation is elusive.

"I consider that a man's brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose."

Hopefully a comfortable couch, for stoner nap time.

"The love of books is among the choicest gifts from the Gods."

Just what a stoned author would say.

“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.”

Unless of course you are constantly stoned.

"Any truth is better than indefinite doubt."

It is the same as avoiding having a bad trip.

“I'm not a psychopath, I'm a high-functioning sociopath. Do your research.”

That's what everyone who smokes weed every day says about themselves.

"I think that there are certain crimes which the law cannot touch, and which therefore, to some extent, justify private revenge."

Smoking weed is not one of them.
