We all know that "milk does your body good," but what about its alternatives? More often than not, they tend to be better for you than the original dairy product. This is especially true if you're lactose-intolerant.

You've probably seen almond milk, soy milk, Lactaid, and other similar milk alternatives taking over the market these days, in a bid to become the top contender for milk alternatives. Hemp milk is a fairly recent member of the new milk family—and you've got to try it.

People need to give hemp milk a try, even if they aren't potheads. If you haven't quite found reasons to try hemp milk yet, we'll give you a couple of good suggestions to replace your cow's milk.

It's a low-fat milk that has tons of nutrients.

Fitness and health fans have plenty of reasons to try hemp milk, just from the nutrition label alone! A single serving of vanilla hemp milk contains half of an adult's daily recommended serving of calcium—the same bone-building compound of regular milk.

Got plenty of calcium? No bother, there's more to hemp milk than just calcium. Hemp milk has around 35 percent of the daily recommended value of phosphorous, another bone-building nutrient. Vitamin D, Omega-3 fatty acids, riboflavin, 10 amino acids, and protein are also found inside.

Despite the massive pack of nutrients, it's low fat and contains 0 cholesterol.

It's vegan.

Hemp milk contains no animal products whatsoever, which makes it a vegan, cruelty-free alternative to regular milk. This gives vegans and vegetarians plenty of reasons to try hemp milk next time they hit a smoothie bar.

Hemp milk will not get you high.

One of the reasons to try hemp milk you may have been hoping to see is hearing about getting a "buzz" from it. Sorry, it won't happen.

Hemp milk will not get you high. Part of the reason why hemp milk is legal is because it won't get you high. This isn't bad, though. It just means that you can enjoy hemp milk's flavor all the time, without worrying about being impaired.

It's ecologically-friendlier than regular milk.

Cows take a lot of resources to feed, raise, and breed. Hemp? Not so much. Studies from the Science Publishing Groupshow that plant-based milks use far less resources and are healthier for the environment than milks derived from animals.

This means that one of the best reasons to try hemp milk is that it's friendly to Mother Earth, making it a truly "green" solution for your dietary need. Who knows? Maybe hemp milk can save this planet!

Two words: NO LACTOSE!

Most people who get sick from drinking milk are lactose-intolerant, which means that they cannot digest the lactose enzyme. Hemp milk doesn't contain that enzyme to begin with, which makes it a great choice for people who want to keep their tummies happy.

Oh, and it also has fewer phytoestrogens than soy milk.

One of the smartest reasons to try hemp milk, if you already are drinking soy milk, is due to the amount of phytoestrogens in soy milk. These estrogen-like chemicals have been linked to hormone-related illnesses, with some concern that they may potentially cause certain forms of breast cancer.

If you're worried about getting cancer, then you might want to stick to hemp milk rather than soy—especially if you get a lot of milk in your diet. Hemp doesn't have phytoestrogens in it, which makes it a safer alternative to milk than its soybean-based counterpart.

Did we mention that it's trendy?

True story, food trends are a thing, and they offer plenty of reasons to try hemp milk. With marijuana legalization happening, it only makes sense that so many different companies have been turning hemp and cannabis into hot products.

Many merchants are beginning to be heard when they talk about the benefits of hemp seeds and hemp-based products. So, don't be shocked if you see the hottest cafes on Instagram hawking hemp milkshakes soon enough.

Hemp milk can also be a DIY project.

If you're a kitchen whiz and love to show off your culinary skills, you actually have tons of reasons to try hemp milk. Plenty of guides exist that show you how to make your own hemp milk, and that means you can make a day project out of it.

Of course, you don't have to press your own to make it a kitchen project. Just look up some tasty hemp smoothie recipes and give one a shot at your own DIY whiz moment.

It tastes good.

This is one of the most obvious reasons to try hemp milk. Much like almond milk, sipping on regular hemp milk will lend to a slightly nutty flavor. If you give vanilla or chocolate flavoring a try, it tastes almost exactly like "cereal milk."

Yes, it's yummy.

Lastly, one of the best reasons to try hemp milk is because...why not?

Seriously. Why not try it? The worst that can happen is that you hate hemp milk. And the best thing that can happen is that you fall in love with a versatile milk alternative that tastes wonderful.
