Zipporrah, By All Means.

Zip-poor-ruh

By Zipporrah MckinnisPublished 5 years ago 2 min read

What is my true color?

It is altered from within.

Refined with the stretching of time,

Worn faded by my sins.

Oh Zipporrah, you burn bright,

Yet the warmth of blush eases your soul.

What is it truly, that makes me feel whole?

I carry a Title that bears weight,

Not many can pronounce.

The teacher who took attendance,

Yet with my Title she struggled, and denounced.

Many may merely learn to say it,

Not aware of Her profound meaning.

Oh honey let me tell you,

I made my way into this world, gleaming.

From the moment I was created,

Greatness was instilled.

Through the blessing of my Title,

A destiny I came to fulfill.

Zipporrah, Hebrew for bird,

From my heart,

And with meaning, I sing.

Yet There was more to my beauty,

More that I would bring.

Within my melody I found my freedom,

To fly higher than any bird.

Yet the strings of my violin,

Became an anchor, my very word.

When my bow stroked the string,

I came to see the music in color.

The comfort of blush folded into me,

As if we have always known one another.

Within the fine lines on my paper,

My strength replaced my shame.

My voice no longer struggled,

It could no longer be tamed.

Fastened tightly to my left hand,

Pain had taken the form of words,

Emerging with a demand.

Zipporrah, Moses’ wife,

The eldest of 7 sisters,

With Her, God made no mistake.

On the 7th day, by the 17th,

He gave me my first breath to take.

I see the world in vibrant blush,

I was taught it was mine to create.

A world alive as I formed it,

Even if many could not relate.

Forging it into beauty,

Mine is of pastel colors.

Long ago it was the casual of purple,

Just like my mother’s.

I desire a life as tasteful as blush,

Marvelous, yet light on the eyes.

Complimenting yet subtle,

Many wonders in disguise.

My unique is my Me,

It’s in my words, it’s in my walk,

With hungry eyes they can only seek,

And quietly stalk.

Purpose filling up every breath,

The Title merely outlining my depth.

Zipporrah, bearing all the weight,

Her existence applying the pressure.

My inheritance set before me,

Simply cannot be measured.

I look forward to the day,

That they will call on me in great speech,

A blush of fire burning beyond their reach.
