your

(doll)

By Sara Published 4 months ago 1 min read

i am

one in your

collection

of voodoo dolls

you keep

on the shelf

above your bed.

maybe it helps you sleep?

counting all the

pins you stuck

in all the hearts

you tore

do you think it holds them together?

saying all the things

you say

to put out

the fires,

placate the raging flames

because you have done nothing wrong -

ever.

do you really believe that?

i am just another

string unraveled,

a tangle of ties

tethered to you -

i held your heart

in my cupped hands

so no one would touch it.

does it matter that i loved you?

(i don’t know - i might still).

Damn, damn, damn, Sara! You just have such a wicked way with words. Always find your work tugs at the heart and is amazing from an artistic point of view too! Well done, on another fine piece!

  • This was so freaking relatable! Loved your poem!
