you were –

calling

a long time ago

and i –

never heard you

the words

you never said

fell upon

my deaf ears

soon became

my worst fears

soon became

real

you were –

falling

a long time ago

and i –

never caught you

that’s a sting

that lingers

i let you slip right

through my fingers

i let you slip right

right through my hands

you were –

dying inside

and needed to go

yet you’re still

so close

so near

and i –

just

watch you

take your time
