You Were
A free verse poem about my good friend who recently passed away
You were a friend,
you were a family member,
you were a son,
you were an uncle,
you were a cousin,
you were a neighbour,
you were a warrior,
you were a DJ,
you were a comedian,
you were a baseball lover.
I'll miss your presence,
I'll miss your contagious laugh,
I'll miss your huge, juicy smile,
I'll miss our DJ'ing sessions in the grey-washed gazebo,
I'll miss the potlucks with our friends,
I'll miss showering you with my mouthwatering baked goods,
I'll miss celebrating your birthday with you,
I'll miss hearing you tell me about what makes you jump up and down,
I'll miss seeing you at Striking for Reena.
At least you're no longer in excruciating pain,
at least you're in a better place;
G-d will take care of everything you need.
Zikhrono liv'rakha (May his memory be a blessing).

Heartbreaking!!! Sending hugs!!!
Thank you for sharing💕 When my sister died I realized what a full life she lived, even with dying at 53, she probably lived more in those few years than I will in my lifetime. Your poem reminded me of that with the death of your friend.
