There’s one thing I’ve learned in all my wandering
The reality of life and man’s common dream
You don’t always find a fairytale ending
For this dream I often find myself longing
Our movies, our literature, and our songs preach the theme
There’s one thing I’ve learned in all my wandering
The key to sanity seems to be to never stop hoping
The one thing I’ve chased since my early teens
You don’t always find a fairytale ending
As I continue on through life, I can’t help but start questioning
Never able to break out of the same old routine
There’s one thing I’ve learned in all my wandering
Fate is not always kind, but it is unbending
And life has a way of breaking down your self-esteem
You don’t always find a fairytale ending
Those who find one say it’s worth defending
But still I wait, alone with my schemes
There’s one thing I’ve learned in all my wandering
You don’t always find a fairytale ending
