You can't say goodbye to a ghost

you can wish they were still here

you can see them everywhere you look

you can scream into the wind

pound your fists on the ground

walk in circles all over this earth

trying to find them.

but,

you can't say goodbye to a ghost

You can remember every day you ever spent

with them, you can pour your emotions

out. You can LOVE them with every breath

you take.

You can wish you had one more time

to hear their voice, to feel their touch

to sit with them, to just be

with them.

but,

you can't say goodbye to a ghost

You can tell people, it will be okay

you can hold funerals

you can carve stones

you can put pictures of them

on your walls

you can promise never to forget them

you can miss them everyday

you can cry until there are no more tears

but,

you can't say goodbye to a ghost

they're already gone.

I"M not so sure. I have had some visit me and had to forcefully tell them goodby and get out, they no longer belong here, kinda thing. I will send you a few.

I had to come back and read this and I've come to the conclusion that this is a good companion piece to my lyric/poem "Can't Cry Forever." https://vocal.media/poets/can-t-cry-forever

I like the italics and bold and I could really feel how the poem should be read. Nice work!

Oh my. This is wonderful, and sadly, so true. Well done.

Oh, I loved this! This was so full of emotion, and I felt the yearning and physical pain when you said things like "you can scream into the wind" and "sit with them"...and then, that ending. 🥹❤️ Really thoughtful and well done!

Great read! As a Christian I'm quite glad to know that I will be reunited with loved ones in heaven. However, it is important to commit to loving and spending quality time with loved ones before they are taken away from us for a while. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
