Mama has a garden
and she can grow most anything
She puts her heart and soul in it
And ties it up with string
*
She marks it with a color
waters it with love
She shows she has a green thumb
And then smothers them in hugs
*
Margie is magenta
Billy blazes it in blue
She has one picked for everybody
Every shade and every hue
*
Pink picked for Pricilla
Yellow for Yolette
She makes them bold and beautiful
So you never will forget
*
That each of us is special
Like a snowflake, none alike
Uniquely awesome and essential
like the glow of northern lights
Extraordinarily unique
with the colors of the wind
And we share a common unity
that binds us all as friends
*
My color blended with yours
makes a shade no ones ever seen
Never seen before
and never will again
*
She raised me to believe
that we all belong together
So let’s roll up our sleeves
and create a world, simply for the pleasure
We’ll need grays and whites
green and black too
We need all types
to set the mood
*
Not more than one
a special blend
That uses all the best on hand
to display the masterpiece she had planned, pictured in her head
*
Yeah, mama has a garden
full of rare and precious flowers
She cares for each like there’s just one
and fills it up with power
*
Some need the rain and shadows
others direct sun and full heat
She teaches everything she knows
until growing is complete
*
Her flowers are her children
from each and every nation
And she’s so much more than mama
the name she sports, is Mother Nature
So make yourself a note
write it down and don’t forget it
You are a special project
so no matter how hard it gets
All of us have a beauty
No one can deny
But we’re more beautiful together
And we were born to fly
