You Can't Come Between Us

We'll stand shoulder to shoulder. We will remain together.

I've been thinking about “meaning”

what it means to be an artist

In times of chaos and disorder, what is our responsibility?

As artists, we must bear the weight of creating.

Creating anything when so many are suffering. I've been thinking

I've been thinking about what it means to be an activist and an artist,

Or are they mutually exclusive

And yet, here I am, writing this poem

Reaching out to my own feelings in the midst of all this tumult.

Here I am, thinking about what it will mean for you to read these words

With so much else is going on in your life too.

Here we are, together. Artists and activists

A community of people who refuse to give up

Refuse to relent on our world

Because we know there's still hope for humanity.

Imagine

A world of beauty.

Think of harmony.

The sight, the sound, the feel.

We are the creators.

The artists, the architects, and the dreamers.

The ones who see the world in a different way.

So, let’s create, visualize the beauty and achieve harmony.

Dream of a world where we can all live in peace and symmetry.

So, let’s create, visualize beauty, and achieve harmony.

We will not show hatred or fear. We will create and cherish.

For this world is the only one we have.

Let us not be divided by the enemy

We will speak up, shout it to the rooftop

We will not keep quiet.

We will keep condemning hatred,

Fight for justice and beauty

Let nobody come between us

In every time and place

there will be those who hate

Their ignorance and fear

will spawn a thousand ugly things

But we are not afraid—we will fight back

We will fight back, not with anger

But with love and justice.

We will be the voices

that never stop speaking.

We will keep talking, keep shouting, keep singing.

We will not stand still, we will not be silent.

We will speak up, shout it to the rooftop.

We will not allow ourselves to be ignored, we will not let hatred win.

We will share love until justice is served.

We will keep condemning hatred so that justice prevails.

We won't quit fighting for what's right

We've seen the beauty of a world in which everybody is free.

Let nobody come between us
