You Are Blind

Even in the darkest of nights... your eyes can only see so far. You can see the hundreds.. thousands.. millions of twinkles from 4 million some years ago... that finally make it to you. Space is weird.

Don’t you ever wonder why we can’t see what is there? Why it takes a camera with intricate settings and an expensive lens, to capture what’s right above us?

If you step back and look at your life... We can compare finding the best camera to shoot with, kinda like finding a companion (albeit a human, dog, cat, or whatever). You can’t capture all the beauty of the Milky Way with a cheap-o Amazon camera. Those would the worst if your life’s relationships. Finally, you wait. You save up. You think about all the ideas you want to shoot and wonder what settings you’ll have to use. It’ll keep you up at night. Then you take that step and buy that camera that you could’ve put a down payment on a new car with.

But you didn’t.

You saved and you waited for something that, dare I say, fills even the tiniest hole in your heart. It sounds stupid to someone who has no interest in photography. Yes, we’re aware.

But... We are star dust “they” say. Are we? Are we really that beautiful? It is kind funny how one can compare themself or their companion to the night sky. You don’t really get to see the true colors until you stick around long enough. Somewhere there’s beauty. And right above your head is a kind of beauty that never waxes and wanes like the moon; it is constant. Just like the beauty within yourself.
