Yesterday’s World
Yesterday was slow,
a place that breathed pain,
old rooms holding silence,
memories calling my name.
I walked those halls,
feeling years on my skin,
each step a reminder,
of all I could not keep.
Yesterday stayed heavy,
like a storm never moving,
its weight in my hands,
its sorrow in my chest.
I touched old letters,
creased with longing,
stories half remembered,
lives fading in dust.
The window felt tired,
watching seasons fall,
as if even the light,
had forgotten my face.
I stood in the doorway,
listening for voices,
hoping for one heartbeat,
to rise from the past.
