Yesterday, It Was We

But Today It's Only Me

Yesterday, you loved me blindly

Today, you'll sit so quietly.

Yesterday, together we'd stand tall

Today, you'll watch me fall.

Yesterday, you demanded I be proud

Today, you're not so loud.

Yesterday, you fought for me to be free

Today, you stand idly by as I struggle to breathe.

Yesterday, we hoped for better

Today, I'm alone to face the weather.

Yesterday, a battle was fought

Today, that small victory is lost.

Yesterday, the world was bright

Today, it's back to dark as night.

Yesterday was all about rights

Today it's just not your fight.

Yesterday was full of love and joy

Today I feel thrown away like an old used toy.

Yesterday, we gathered as one

Today, I'm the only one.

Yesterday, you held my hand

But it was today, I really needed a friend.
