that photo of you as a child
I know your Mother
I am one
that boy, that's the you
that loved mothers
at 5, in your freshly ironed tiny plaid shirt
there's a boy (ardilla, pony)
here's the young incarnation of peter pan
his silhouette etched in black
turning questioning eyes
to the strife of the elders
before the world spun your mind to fear
before responsibility sent you into the deeper trenches
before love was death
that boy held his own council of love
laid his head on my shoulder
channeled a god of Creation
briefly, in sacred ceremony
when he grew up
love never dies
I told you
may you find great peace in your soul
may we all do so
