if i died tomorrow would anyone care

would the leaf stuck in the gutter

grate finally fall in

would pining winter finally catch

the elusive hand of spring

would porch lights come on later

so childhood could play a little longer

would daylight peek-a-boo clouds

to tell new life it was time to be born

would my dreams watercolor drain

down the shower as they washed off

the last of me

would anyone care if i died tomorrow

and the world rose lovelier without me?
