I cannot write a poem about World War

For it is not something that I wish to see.

The thought of such a conflict brings only pain,

And fills my heart with a sense of disdain.

The devastation, the loss, the endless grief,

The shattered dreams, the broken beliefs,

The lives that would be forever changed,

The hopes that would be forever estranged.

The world would never be the same again,

As the echoes of war would forever remain.

The scars on the earth and the scars on the soul,

A constant reminder of a world out of control.

So let us not speak of war and its horrors,

But rather focus on building a world that's fairer.

A world where love and peace reign supreme,

And the seeds of hope and joy forever gleam.
