Words

An Open Form Poem

What are words when they are disregarded?

What happens to words when not regarded?

The writer loses all hope and will.

The words stop flowing like a mighty spill.

What happens to words when they are praised?

What are words when not erased?

The writer finds joy in the creation of things.

The words flow as if from eternal springs.

How wonderful is the mind full of words?

How amazing is the pen ready to fly like birds?

The writer flies to make ideas soar left and right.

The words come and dreams take their flight.

How horrible for the mind to quiet?

Or how awful to battle like in a riot?

The writer fights to maintain composure,

But the words might not leave their enclosure.

But what if words start running amuck?

This is a new problem where writers get stuck.

Finding what’s useful and what’s not

Makes the revision of words hard to spot.

What happens when words are curated?

What happens when words are related?

How does it feel to be in the creative mind?

How does it feel to enter a project in a wordless bind?
