Why is it so susceptible to understand
that because I am a woman I cannot stand?
That because I am a woman my thoughts are tainted
laced with emotion with which men are not acquainted?
That because I am a woman I'm expected to be below;
men are supposed to be smarter and I can't know how to grow?
That because I am a woman I'm thought to choose the path of a mother,
because a life without children is unfulfilling and ill suited for another?
It is because I am a Woman that I am equally as strong;
I can stand on my own and otherwise is where you're wrong.
It is because I am a Woman that my thoughts are divine;
they are different, they are beauty, and they are all mine.
It is because I am a Woman that my abilities are so vast;
I exceed in different skills, but that's no reason to contrast.
It is because I am a Woman that my mother's dedication is not unnoticed;
her love and strength permitted me to become in other areas devoted.
