Without Walls

Because the meaning of home has changed for me many times

These are the things that I’ve come to know are true

It wasn’t about where you’re from and who you knew,

Those absent from your life as you grew

Or the building you’d go home to.

Everyday, the choice is yours to create

A place where the outside world cannot taint.

May it be a reflection of your past

Each day more introspective than the last.

Where you go to heal

And pull yourself together after another ordeal

Whether surrounded by family or alone

Friends and strangers alike, but not on their own

Everyone is free to share their pain

Without regret, because the love will remain

Most importantly, it’s a place of rest.

Of retreat when you’re not feeling your best

If you’re nomadic or like to settle down

Until it's gone and you’re on to the next

It sees those late nights where you’re up thinking

about everything and nothing.

Home is about more than just where you’re from,

but where you’ve been, and where you're going.
