Wither

A poem

I watched a flower wither

Its beauty slowly fade

Coral hues of living light,

shadowed and then greyed

I sought to lift it from its poison

But it pierced my hand

And drew from me the color

its petals once had

I regret I did not hold it

And shed my blood and tears

But at the pain I withdrew

And left it dying there

sad poetry
