There's usually a mischievous snicker hiding
underneath an anonymous smirk that erupts
into either a laugh or a heckle when a comedian
tells a story or joke...
If all you hear is the sound of crickets
keep on banging the gong to work the crowd
and make your mind up to go for broke...
When you need to explain the punch line's gist
the greater the chances are that your audience
doesn't get the point of your humor and probably
just crossed you off their favorite comedy act list
If you find yourself scrambling for funny lines
in front of a drunk, ornery crowd
start moving like a trapped Houdini with a mic and a stool...
Remember that yesterday is gone, tomorrow hasn't arrived...
