Wintry Light-Wreath
Poppy's Prompts #12 Poem

Hoped to see the northern lights, but
I cannot spot a star -
clouds of tinsel gray cover the sky.
**
Warm gingerbread cake,
melts in my mouth,
while gazing at the balls of
mistletoe grasping its host,
a woody skeleton cheerfully
sharing space to a rent-free
tenant, one that gave birds shelter,
bee's pollen and fed butterfly nymphs.
**
A surprise peeks from a sky porthole,
as the moon shoulders her way
squeezing through the drab.
A crack opens enough for her smile,
and the show-stopping star of the sky is an
oval of ethereal glow -
a wintry light-wreath encircling her shape.
