Winter sucks
I Want A Different Kind Of Goosebump
this winter chill bites at my nose
clings to my skin, my hair, my clothes
a quick escape is what I crave
a sandy beach and salty wave
dandelions in a field of green
a beach and coconut sunscreen
a fruity drink to wet my lips
no frost-biting my fingertips
no crunching underneath my feet
unless it's ice chips in my teeth
sucking a lime or tiny straw
wearing a tank top with no bra
no heavy coat or furry glove
the sun on my face is what I'd love
stay up until it's 2 a.m.
get up and do it all again
a little buzz to clear my view
I can't wait till winter is through

Can You Drive a Ford Fiesta Through a Desert?
I’m flying down the B1 highway from Windhoek to Keetmanshoop with a map and a boot full of camping gear. I’m excited for the first stop of my Namibian road trip: the Quiver Tree Forest. I spot the sign and turn onto the C17, off the tarmac and onto the gravel. I’ll be there soon; it’s only ten miles or so. I am unprepared for what comes next. The car slides and slips across the road. I am not fully in control anymore. I slow to a crawl. The car judders and shudders, the noise deafening, the vibrations rattling the teeth in my skull. It takes me around an hour to drive the ten miles. I arrive at the campsite relieved to be in one piece, even if it feels like all my bones have been shaken slightly out of place. I will later learn that this is what happens when the gravel road becomes “corrugated”, and that the roads authority goes round once a week to “grade” them. Seems I arrived about 6 days after the grader had last been round.

This is so much fun... & I'm currently enjoying summer! However, I love winter in Australia... some frosty mornings but the day then warms up. "a quick escape is what I crave a sandy beach and salty wave dandelions in a field of green a beach and coconut sunscreen" Great rhyme too.
I read this right after shedding the field parka and hoodie I donned just to step out in the back yard with the dogs for a few minutes. Which is to say that, at the moment, I agree. lol Written with that effortless style of yours that I admire. Well done, Kelli!
