Winds of Change
People learn to love Before it’s too late.
INTRODUCTION
I wrote this poem after a long stretch of years that changed me in ways I never expected. COVID, kidney disease, surgery, almost dying, all of it reshaped my body, my voice, and the way I move through the world. I’m not the same woman I was before 2022, and I don’t pretend to be.
But something opened in me after that hospital bed. A light, a clarity, a truth I couldn’t ignore anymore. This poem comes from that place, the place you reach only after you’ve been cracked open and somehow decide to keep going.
This is the voice of the woman who survived.
This is the voice I’m sharing now
This is the light I have chosen now.

“This poem comes from the place I live now, the light I choose, not the light I was given. After everything my body and life have carried, I write from a different center. A quieter one. A truer one. This is the voice that rose after the storm.”
Winds of Change
Winds of change come and go
Change is inevitable to not flow
The earth spins
People grin
People hate
People learn to love
Before it’s too late.
Too many lies have overridden truth
The sky is blue
And so are you
Beauty and bruised
So far from the truth
The lie syndrome could be cured
But powers that be
Hate you and me
Love is good
Hate is bad
It is so sad
But if you would
Do as you should
Don’t bow to kings who hate
Don’t open that gate
Step away from the lies
As the anti Christ
Has yelled, screamed
It would seem
Because they are mean
Cruel, and flowers die
As the anti Christ spews hate,
Death, and destruction
Across the globe
To every adobe
I wish for the evil to go away
Never come back to this day
I wish the evil hate gone
Away to a big black hole
For all evil anti Christ to be gone
As they are punished for their hate
As they are thrown out of the heavenly gate
Let the light rise higher than the lies,
a quiet flame softening every shadow.
I speak in symbols, not faces,
calling the heavy hate winds to loosen their grip.
May the dark machinery of cruelty fade,
may truth stand steady,
may the bruised world breathe again.
Live and let live
with truth, with light,
with the courage to refuse the darkness
and let love outlast the noise.
