Win, Lose, or Draw

In a land far away not so long ago,

An angel reached down to take your outstretched hand.

Bloody and crying and sprawled out on the ground,

Not knowing how to get up,

Drowning in a sea of drugs, lies, and shame.

She offered to save your soul,

In exchange for your name.

To be saved from the ravaging sea inside,

You agreed to the terms,

To Love Unconditionally.

But behind your back, your fingers

Were always sarcastically crossed.

Decades past and you fought battles large and small,

And win, lose, or draw,

She still gave you love evermore.

She never did you harm,

And she never crossed over,

To the path you were on.

But you cheated and lied,

For all the secrets that demolished your pride.

Then grew full of hate and rage,

Forever a prisoner,

In your own cage.

But you toyed with an angels heart.

You tore her wings so she couldn’t fly.

You locked her in your cage.

You tried to steal everything that was her.

And to cover the lies,

You would kill, to hide.

In a pile of blue-blooded white feathers,

You left your angel to die.

You ran, back to that land far away,

Looking for your salvation from an angel, again.

But you’re twisted and blind and never learned,

Now in Satans rotting stench,

Is only where you can confide.

In a land far away, not so long ago…
