Will it go round in circles?

An ear worm made me ponder

Will it go round in circles?

That’s what I want to know

Once you’ve burnt that bridge

Left that thing alone

Can it be revisited

Should it be

After all the players

Have changed their game, if not completely

Then by enough

To be unrecognisable?

Nothing like the one you thought you knew

Are you still curious?

Should you poke that bear

Or if you’re honest, do you no longer care?

It’s probably the latter

If you’re frank with yourself

But …

the former destroyer of your comfort

Lived rent free in your mind

For longer than they should

And because of that

Is like no one else you know

Can you, will you

Changed as you are

Meet the changed human

That they undoubtedly are

(As are you )

Can you connect with this version anew?

Will it go round in circles?

This resonated with me on a deep level. For me, the answer is no, no circles, no revisiting, when I'm done, I'm done. Excellent poem and it captures the push-pull between reconnecting and leaving it alone.
