Why The Truth Hurt

Why The Truth Hurt

You fell in love with his lies

Because he told them the way you wanted

He told the "truth" you wanted to hear

Not the truth you needed to know

The actual truth

You knew his truthful truth

Yet chose to ignore it

You thought it was fabricated

Like the love you thought you shared with him

Because it didn't taste as sweet as his lies

It didn't sound as soothing as a grand piano

Playing into the peaceful dark cold windy night

You chose to pretend the truth was a lie

Because to you

The truth was only the truth

When he said it was the truth

Even when the lie was obvious

He finally got tired of lying

Because he found a new muse

To entertain with his candied lies

And told you the truth

The truth you had known

But labelled as a lie

That's why the truth hurt you

When it was finally said,

By him.
