I feel you always beside me
Why Do You Follow Me
Why do you follow me through silence
Through every room and every street
Why does your ghost remain beside me
Long after our defeat
I feel your memory in mirrors
Hear your laughter in the dark
Like fingerprints across my spirit
Like fire leaving marks
I tried replacing what we had
With crowded nights and strangers’ names
Still every road leads back to you
Back to old familiar pain
You appear inside my dreaming
Standing close enough to touch
Then morning steals you from my hands
Again becoming far too much
Why do you follow every heartbeat
Every thought I try to hide
Why does loving you still linger
Like poison buried deep inside
Maybe some souls never leave us
Even after goodbye comes
Maybe certain kinds of heartbreak
Echo louder than the drums
I carry you without permission
Inside scars that never heal
Still haunted by your memory
Still trapped inside what I still feel
So if your shadow keeps on walking
Beside me till my final day
I’ll keep asking through the silence
Why you never went away.
