Why Be So Quick To Judge?
Can't You Love Me Unconditionally?
Why be so quick to judge?
Life goes too fast to be perfect;
Yes, I hear you tell me,
"I don't care, I want this place spotless,"
Do I deserve to be a victim of your brutality?
Yes, yes;
You are right,
I make a mess,
But so do you,
I just accept you as a human,
I don't base your cleanliness on your masculinity,
So why base mine on my feminity?
"You're not going out with your friend,"
You tell me as I recoil in horror at
the dominant tone in your voice;
"Why?" I ask,
"Because you're a woman; you can't protect yourself," you say,
But,
She is a woman too,
Though, does it matter whether my friends are male or female?
What matters is I trust them;
Why shouldn't I go out with them, just because you don't like them?
You don't get to decide who my friends are;
"Oh but I do," you reply,
"You are mine;"
You Come in from work and demand,
"Get tea on the table,"
Without a second thought that I'm tired because I've been busy too,
"Do I look like your slave?" I ask;
You see,
I am supposed to be your girlfriend,
Not your lap-dog;
It makes for an unhealthy relationship when one psychologically abuses,
And tries to dominate the other, just because she is not a man,
So here I ask again;
Why be so quick to judge?
Can't you love me unconditionally,
You reply,
"Because you are a woman,"
And my final words are,
"It's over,"
On that note, I shut the door and leave
In silence.
