Who Will Water Me?
Penny for my thoughts: A wanderlust heart with a small-town education

Shower thoughts
Drizzle down like indoor raindrops
Dripping into my ear drums
Straight to my brain.
At least I think that’s the way it works
But how should I know
— I couldn’t grasp
The out-of-date textbooks provided by an easily forgotten
Small town independent school district.
Most students joined the only club we had
Future Farmers of America.
A distraction from basically taught core classes like
Science Math English History.
These are subjects all children should learn in school
Based off of the philosophy
That the most malleable brains on the planet
Must grow in a pot
Outside their paid educator’s window seal.
And from there
Student's bloom
Into basic garden flowers
That nobody knows the name of.
My daddy
Was one of many complicated thinkers
And no one repotted him after he grew
Far too big for his pot.
He was a thinker drowning in his thoughts
(Wilting over his pot).
His mind grew faster than the wildflowers around him.
I’ve been around some thinking thinkers that I don’t think like
So
I’d think about the way I think…
Then compare to the two thinks
But it’s hard to comprehend
That no one truly thinks alike.
For those who think too much—know too much,
And can’t focus on basic educational classes
Turn to fixer-upper pills.
The families and friends who don’t know how to cope
With non-simplistic thinkers,
Support zombifying mentally unbalanced
Overwhelmed minds
With things like Zoloft, Prozac, Lexapro, and Serafim.
Now it's normal to rely on educators
And mind-numbing processes
Instead of watering them outside
In a thriving garden.
See
If they were given the nurture and nutrients
Each student needs individually
—we’d live in a world full of rightly overstimulated minds
Bursting through the dirt.
