Who Will Remember The Unwanted

The unwanted don’t really count as a life

Who Will Remember The Unwanted

They fade before the world can see,

faces lost in passing crowds,

names that never settle in memory,

lives that echo without reply.

They sit where no one chooses to look,

in corners shaped by quiet neglect,

their stories folded into silence,

like letters never meant to be read.

The unwanted learn to shrink their voice,

to make their presence small and thin,

as if existence itself were a burden,

as if breathing asked too much of the world.

Time moves on without their mark,

no footprints pressed into the earth,

no photograph held close in grief,

no whispered name at the edge of sleep.

Who will remember when they are gone,

when even their shadow fades away,

when the world continues unchanged,

as if they had never stood within it.

There is a cruelty in being unseen,

a deeper wound than spoken harm,

to live and never truly be known,

to vanish while still alive.

I feel them linger in quiet spaces,

in empty rooms that hold their weight,

in the air that carries what was unsaid,

a presence that refuses to fully leave.

So I write their silence into words,

give shape to what was left behind,

because someone must remember them,

even if the world never tried.
