Who is She?

Only an Act

She is a perfectionist through and through

With one set of rules for her,

And another set for you.

She doesn't cope well with her failure

Yet she can forgive you your behaviour.

***

She favours honesty and loyalty

And when she commits her heart,

She will treat you like royalty

Giving 110% from the start.

***

The minute she realises she has made a mistake

She will hang her head in shame,

Remedial action she will partake

To correct that which she is to blame.

***

An important issue she feels deeply about

Is not to go to sleep on a fight,

She needs it resolved without a doubt

Regardless of who is wrong or right.

***

She spends considerable time in her head

Convinced she is not good enough,

She tries to listen to her heart instead

But ignoring that little voice is tough.

***

If she suffers any emotional pain

She will hide behind her wall,

Put a smile on her face all the same,

And pretend her hurt is anger to stall.

***

The same can be said for her physical pain

She will smile as she doesn't want you to know,

She will have you convinced once again

And not know how deep her pain levels go.

***

She is an expert at hiding her tears

As she hates losing control,

Breaking down in front of you is something she fears

Because you will see deep into her soul.

***

She is scared of many things

But believes in "feeling the fear and doing it anyway",

Although some of the issues this brings

Makes her want to run the other way.

***

She does not do as she is told

In fact it will be the opposite for she,

She is independent and stubborn

It is the only way she knows how to be.

***

She takes a lot on board

But does not like to sweat the small stuff,

She will pick and choose what is to be ignored

But only the act she puts on is tough!

***

When the man in her life does not play fair

She forgives him time and again and still remains,

Until the pain causes her to no longer care

Then and only then will she leave, never to return again!

***

Ultimatums are not her style

but this she does have to say,

She does not share well with other women

That is when she definitely walks away!

***

But stand beside her as her loving man

And she will promise you to be her best,

She will love you with all she can

And let the Universe take care of the rest.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

"Stand by her as her loving man" & you just might get to hear her sing a Tammy Wynette song.
