Who is My Muse?

There's always someone or something that inspires us.

My muse

is not a fairy or a goddess.

It’s not a spirit

to say the least.

It’s not something conjured

from the deepest, darkest

realm of magic.

It’s not a pack with the devil

or the gift from an angel.

It’s not the supernatural

to say the least.

My muse

is a crazy thought running amuck in my brain

full of “what if” and

“I wonder.”

It’s in my head

to say the least.

But it’s not just there.

My muse

can be the man on the street

whose dreams have been deferred.

Or the third-string quarterback

who won the game.

It's a pretty rich girl

who made the wrong turn

on the streets.

Or the homeless girl

who made the right one on the

path as a college elite.

It’s people in general…

to say the least.

My muse is many things,

real and true.

It’s me and you and all the world.

That’s my muse,

to say the least.
