Echoes of Life After Ruin

A house once warm now sleeps in ash,

Its echoes lost in time’s swift crash.

The walls remember laughter's grace,

Now shadows dance in its hollowed space.

Rain falls soft on broken dreams,

Washing blood into silent streams.

The sky, a canvas smeared with grief,

Draws sorrow on each shattered leaf.

A child’s toy lies torn, alone,

Among the ruins, carved in stone.

Hope fades like smoke in bitter wind,

Each breath a wound that won’t rescind.

Once love bloomed bright in fields of green,

Now ghosts walk paths where life had been.

The stars seem blind to all below,

Their silver light can't heal this woe.

Yet in the dark, a heartbeat stays

A whisper clings to fractured days.

Though disaster stole the light away,

A soul still aches to see the day.
