Whispering Spirits
I cover my ears to block you out

Whispering Spirits
They choose to walk the earth forever more,
bound to the weight of words unsaid.
They brush against my skin in the dark,
soft as regret,
cold as the truth.
Sometimes I hear them breathe,
a sigh through the walls,
a warning in the wind.
They tell me stories of love that died
but never left,
of promises broken
and hearts buried shallow.
I listen. I always listen.
Because I know one day,
I’ll be one of them,
whispering too,
to someone who can’t forget.
