Where We Are

Today

By MRGPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

The leaves are silver and gold

Dancing in the light of the universe.

When they fall from their parents arms

And fall to the frozen ground of winter

The season turns them colors of the earth

Of warmth and fire.

Their they rest a while

Waiting to continue their work.

Passerbys pick them up to admire their beauty

Place them in the dashboard of their cars

And hang them in the homes.

Their they collect dust and memories

And for a moment they remain forgotten.

When they return to where they once began

And the leaves lay again upon the earth

they think of stories untold.

Secrets hidden in the soil.

Ancient beings, and creatures

that once graced the planet with their warmth.

Though they may seem long gone to naked eyes

They remain in places unseen.

They watch with heavy hearts

And broken eyes

At where we are today.
