“DON’T TURN AROUND”

The whispers warned,

Where shadows slept

And nightmares formed.

They said he lived

Where the moonlight died

With storms in his eyes

And darkness inside.

They called him a monster

A thing to fear,

The reason silence

Shook the air.

But monsters aren’t made

Of claws alone—

Sometimes they’re hearts

They forgot their home.

The dark reached for me,

Soft as a sound,

And i think i fell

The moment i turned around.

His smile was broken,

Faint and thin,

Like he had forgotten

How to let light in.

The stars seemed distant,

The night stood still,

Yet standing beside him

Felt stranger still.

For every shadow

That clung to his skin,

I saw quiet sorrow

Hidden within.

Perhaps i was foolish,

Perhaps i was blind,

But monsters only stat monsters

When no one looks behind
